Description:
Songs of Africa, a vocal ensemble specializing in African song, including audience participation with rhythm & movement! Ten percent of proceeds to benefit orphanages in Kenya & Zambia. A matching grant of $250 has been provided by Dixon Sister Cities Association.

Description: Students from the new
VIVA! Performing Arts School will be showcased in a short concert at The Next Picture Show. This is a great opportunity for children to see their peers perform! Then we move to
St. Luke’s Church for everyone to experience the arts first-hand through games and demonstrations. We end the afternoon with a Dress-Up Tea Party. Children are encouraged to bring a ‘friend’ (favorite toy, Teddy Bear, GI Joe, etc.) and explore our costume department to dress up!

Michelle Areyzaga and Pianist Robert Vanderschaaf. A highlight of the evening will be the world premier of “The Promised Land,” a set of four spirituals by American composer
Gwyneth Walker.

FAMILY CLASSICAL POPS CONCERT
When: 3:00pm
Where: Historic Dixon Theatre

Description: Join Soprano
Michelle Areyzaga and The Metropolis Chamber Orchestra in a program of classics to delight young and old! Short, lively pieces will showcase various instruments of the orchestra under the baton of Maestro Tim Boles. Local children will be featured as soloists in Haydn’s “Toy Symphony,” and we end the program with Mozart’s sublime and uplifting “Exsultate Jubilate” for Soprano and Orchestra. During the intermission children can experience a ‘Symphony Petting Zoo” to get a close-up look at how the instruments of the orchestra are played. A great way to introduce children to fine music in a relaxed and casual setting!
